Faculty-In-Residence History

The Faculty-in-Residence (FiR) program is sponsored by the Department of Residential Life and is designed to promote faculty/student interaction outside of the classroom. The program was started in 2000 and since then has provided many opportunities for students to see faculty in a different context.

Over the last several years, The Department of Residential Life has appointed full-time UConn faculty as well as visiting scholars from around the world as Faculty-in-Residence. Appointments are made following a committee-based search process.

The FiR Program has grown to become an integral component to the Northwest residential community. There are many exciting ways for the Faculty in Residence to engage students in this program.
